Recording historical information before it disappears

An important source of original documents relating to the history of Fishlake and Fishlake families.

This will be of interest to local and family historians alike. The following information directs interested researchers to a vast collection of original  parish and township records belonging to Fishlake currently deposited at Doncaster City Archives. I had been totally unaware of this easily accessible collection before.

The photographed images of these records can be studied are found at the site of

familysearch.org

If you are not already a member you can joint up for free. It is a totally free site.

Then select search tab on the menu bar.

Then select Images.

In the place box type in Fishlake and from the drop down menu select the second option ‘Fishlake, Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom village 1801-1974’.

There you will see a list of 85 image files some containg many pages within each file.

A wide range of documents covering the years 1561 to 1896, including the following…

Baptism, Marriage and Burial records.

Marriage Banns.

Vestry Records.

Land Records.

Miscellaneous Records.

Bylaw or township books.

Bastardy Records.

Poor Rate Records.

Poor House Records.

Guardianship Records.

Constable Accounts.

Rate Books.

This gives plenty of scope and opportunities for original research and study.
